St Lucia to Hilton
Palm-nut Vulture - A brief stop to see this bird by the side of the road.
Rufous-winged Cisticola  - Seen at a wetland site on route to Hilton. A near endemic.   (Photo NF)
White-eared Barbet - Only seen at two sites during the trip.

17th June - Hilton to Underburg

Hilton to Underburg


Black-winged Lapwing - A small flock we located in a field on the way to the Karkloof area.
Benvie Gardens, Karkloof - Nice surroundings -Excellent birding.

Speckled Pigeon - Perched high above us at the gardens  (photo NF)
Orange Ground Thrush - We only saw this species in the gardens where it was relatively tame.
We also saw Olive Thrush here.  (photo NF)

Southern Double-collared Sunbird - This endemic species was only seen on two days

A late afternoon visit to Marutswa Forest to try and see Cape Parrot coming to roost.
Marutswa Forest - Unfortunately the Parrots did not appear despite being seen the previous day. (photo NF)
African Hoopoe - Seen on the edge of the forest.

Wattled Crane - A rare endemic species seen at an undisclosed private site.  Only a few hundred individuals survive.
